For many patients, finding the time to see a GP can be tricky.
Traditional GP surgery opening hours may not fit with your other responsibilities at home or at work. At its worst, this could mean that you may be tempted to ignore a potentially serious health issue and hope it goes away.
Taurus Healthcare’s Enhanced Access Service (operating on behalf of Herefordshire General Practice) aims to address this issue by offering evening and weekend appointments at a number of hubs across Herefordshire when GP surgeries are closed.
All slots are bookable via your GP surgery - simply ask the reception team for an evening or weekend appointment.
Please note: These are not drop-in centres. If you need urgent GP assistance when your surgery is closed, please contact NHS111 online or call 111. The person answering your call will make sure you get the right help quickly, which may include referring you to the Taurus Out of Hours GP Service.
Enhanced Access (Evening and Weekend
Appointments) Service
To access the service, you must be registered with a Herefordshire GP Practice. To book an appointment at any of the hubs, simply call your registered GP practice during their normal opening hours and request a Taurus Enhanced Access appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I access the Enhanced Access Service?
Please note that the Enhanced Access Service is not a walk-in service. You must book an appointment to see a GP or other health professional at one of our hubs.
To access the service, you must be registered with a Herefordshire GP Practice. To book an appointment at any of the hubs, simply call your registered GP practice during their normal opening hours and request a 'Taurus Enhanced Access appointment’. If your Practice is closed phone NHS 111.
- Who will I see?
The Enhanced Access Service is run by a rota of GPs and other Health Professionals, drawn from Herefordshire practices.
- Will the Health Professional be able to see my records?
Yes, when you see a GP or other member of our clinical team at one of the hubs, they will be able to access your patient records. This is because we have a data sharing agreement with all practices which enables our Enhanced Access team to access your records. This is important so that they can gain an understanding of your medical history and any pre-existing conditions
- How do I cancel an appointment?
If you can’t make your appointment please cancel by phoning your Practice. If your practice is closed please phone 07876 473629.
