Taurus Healthcare held its Annual Review meeting on Thursday 22 July, via Zoom.

Attended by up to 60 partners, staff members and other stakeholders, the meeting this year included presentations from Simon Trickett, Chief Executive at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group, and Jane Ives, Managing Director at Wye Valley Trust.

Simon Trickett recognised the contribution that Taurus Healthcare has made in bringing partners together, which he stated would mean Herefordshire General Practice is in a strong position as we move towards Integrated Care Systems (ICS). Without minimising the challenges and risks ahead, Simon said he believed Herefordshire General Practice is in a stronger position than at any time previously.

In her presentation, Jane Ives talked about the achievements of the One Herefordshire Partnership. In particular, the way in which it had enabled equal partners to come together to make the right decisions for the local population. She also highlighted the future priorities for the Partnership as well as factors that might be different in the future.

Members of the Taurus Executive team highlighted challenges and achievements of the past year. A major part of was obviously Herefordshire General Practice’s approach to the COVID vaccination roll-out. We were therefore thrilled to showcase a new video that highlighted the achievements of many of those involved. You can view the video here.

Over the past year we have, of course, all also been engaged in ‘Business as Usual’ activities. For Taurus, these were – and continue to be - focused around our three core objectives: collective collaboration; support to local practices; providing clinical services. Taurus Annual General Meeting

The Annual Review Meeting was followed by the Taurus Healthcare Annual General Meeting. Here, as well as formal reporting of the organisation’s accounts, attendees were asked to provide feedback on the Federation’s support for General Practice over the past 12 months and to share their views on a number of strategic issues that will shape our priorities moving forwards.

Dr Mike Hearne, Managing Director at Taurus Healthcare, summed up the two events by saying: “It’s been a phenomenal year” and thanked all staff and partners for their support and contributions throughout the year.
